Moving On
When Joanne’s life is uprooted by events beyond her control, she finds herself lost and homeless and trying to make her way through life whilst living on the streets. Will a chance encounter change her fate, or is she destined to see the world through a very bleak lens? Moving On is a heart-warming and thoughtful musical for all ages about life and love, the places and people we call home, and the choices and challenges we face along the way.
Paper Breadcrumbs is excited to be bringing Moving On to The Playground Theatre as part of their initiative to showcase new and early-stage works through their Incubator Season.
With thanks to: All the industry people who have given their time and advice, The Tabard Theatre and Polka Theatre for early workshop development space, The Connections at St. Martins, and the many conversations had along this journey with people connected together through homeless issues.
A musical in two acts. Interval 15 minutes.

The Story centres around Joanne, an ordinary young adult who lives an ordinary life and dreams of ordinary things. Her family life is anything but ordinary: a doting father and a tempestuous mother leave Joanne caught in constant storms. A tragic accident, a family torn apart and the arrival of a new partner, box Joanne in, forcing her to flee the place she once called home. With no relatives or siblings, no job and no money, she has no place to turn to and ends up drifting onto the streets.
